These seals are four lip seals with a specially developed sealing profile. A selection of elastomer materials for standard and special applications enables the sealing of nearly all liquid and gaseous media. X-ring seals are vulcanized in forms endlessly. They are characterized by the ring shape with an almost square profile. The dimensions are defined by the inner diameter and the cord thickness. Compared to the O-ring, the four lip ring has the following advantages: Safety against twisting. Due to their special profile, the gasket does not tend to roll in the groove (with back and forth movement) - low friction - very good sealing behavior. Due to a favorable distribution of pressure over the cross section, a high density is achieved- a lubricant reservoir can form between the sealing lips -no pressure border. The often disturbing border on the inner or outer diameter of the O-ring (due to the production conditions) lies for the four lip ring between the sealing lips. X-Ring seals are self-acting, double-acting sealing elements. Installation in the radial or axial direction of the contact forces causes the initial sealing effect. They are overlaid by the system pressure. The result is a total sealing pressure which increases with the increase in the system pressure. The seal acts under pressure similar to a liquid with high viscosity. This causes the pressure to be applied evenly to all sides.
